- New exclusive SPA for 140 additional guests to be constructed in the northern Weinviertel
- Present resort area to receive a facelift by fall 2015
- 21 million euros for the third expansion phase at Therme Laa – Hotel & Spa**** s

Since its opening in 2002 Therme Laa – Hotel & Spa**** s has developed into a touristic showcase and lead project.  Now the VAMED Vitality World resort will be expanded.  Additionally, by the end of 2016 the international healthcare provider VAMED will construct a new, exclusive SPA.  The central element will be the new SPA designed purposely to appeal to guests seeking tranquility.  A new power place is being created characterized by its striking architecture.  In this way, VAMED is transforming the resort into a unique tourist destination.

Today Therme Laa, with way more than 300,000 guests annually, is one of the most popular excursion and vacation destinations in Austria and has invigorated the whole region’s tourism:  In the past 13 years the number of overnight stays in Laa a. d. Thaya has increased tenfold from 7,451 to 70,918 and in the same time period the increase in value creation rose eightfold.

Lower Austria Provincial Governor Dr. Erwin Pröll:  :
“Therme Laa has not only earned the highest ratings in international tourism, but for many years it has been a strong partner of the Federal Province of Lower Austria and the region.  In the past years 500 new jobs and a completely new infrastructure have been created in connection with the spa.  That’s the way active tourism and economic policy works.  We will continue this successful course with this expansion.”

Dr. Ernst Wastler, Executive Director of VAMED:
“VAMED has established itself worldwide as a leading provider of health care services.  We will make use of all our international experience for renovating Therme Laa and expanding it with a new, exclusive SPA and will achieve a new dimension in health care tourism here in Weinviertel.”

When the thermal expansion is completed, Laa will not only be more attractive for tourists, but also for residents.

Brigitte Ribisch, M.A., Mayor of Laa an der Thaya:
“This extension will have a positive effect on the whole town.  Not only because the town will be an even better place to live.   Also municipal tax revenues have increased significantly in the past years as a result of operations of Therme Laa, businesses locating in the area, and the creation of new jobs."

Therme Laa: Taking Relaxation to a new Dimension!

For the SPA clients, there will be a new entrance area, a spacious changing room, three exclusive relax oases with daybeds that can be reserved, a lounge with bar, restaurant, and terrace with an exclusive outdoor resting area in a natural surrounding and an outdoor pool.  In the interior courtyard, a saline pool will complement the cistern pools in the center, which extend to the outdoor area.   Several saunas, resting zones, and also adventure zones round off our range of amenities.

The tower in the center of the spa is a special highlight and is the landmark of the spa.  It includes a fountain with an indoor waterfall.  Additionally, there are plans to make the entrance area and changing rooms in the present spa more relaxing and attractive.  The spa restaurant, parts of the thermal spa, and the children’s area will also be refurbished and upgraded.  The existing sauna area will be remodeled with the addition of an up-to-date sauna and adventure shower and also expanded.

A new building will enlarge the relaxation area by adding about 50 lounge chairs and will enable hotel guests to go directly from the hotel spa to the sauna area of the thermal bath.   Financing for the project will be provided by regional support funds of the Federal Province of Lower Austria (ECO Plus) with co-financing by the EU Commission (ERDF Structural Funds).
