VAMED, a leading global provider of services for hospitals and other healthcare facilities, is strengthening its Executive Board: Moritz Gärtner (50) will be responsible for the newly established "Corporate Development" department with effect from 15 August 2023.

"The strategic realignment is the central prerequisite for the successful turnaround and the future of VAMED. We are delighted that we have been able to recruit Moritz Gärtner, an exceptionally experienced manager. He will ideally complement the existing Executive Board by developing strategic options and perspectives", says Michael Moser, member of the Supervisory Board of VAMED AG and responsible for VAMED within the Fresenius Management Board.

"With Moritz Gärtner, we have another international manager with relevant healthcare experience in the Executive Board team, who will help shape our realignment with his expertise. I am confident that, together with our employees and the now expanded Executive Board team, we will succeed in strategically positioning VAMED for the future and achieving a successful turnaround," explains Klaus Schuster, Speaker of the Executive Board of VAMED AG.

Moritz Gärtner has many years of experience in the reorganisation and realignment, strategy and business development as well as business process optimisation of companies. He has held various positions at Siemens and Siemens Energy, including operational functions and CFO of the North and Latin America region. Prior to this, he worked as a consultant at PwC, supporting numerous companies in change processes.

On the occasion of the publication of the business figures for the second quarter of 2023, Fresenius announced that it would realign the VAMED project business, particularly in Germany. In addition, a reduction of non-European initiatives in the services business and thus a concentration on a few selected markets is planned. The aim is to focus activities and, associated with this, achieve a significantly lower risk profile and return to profitable growth.
